Tomorrow should be the day they let me start walking!

Also, I'm addicted to NCIS.

While watching "Don't Forget The Lyrics," (Wayne Brady's current attempt at staying in show-business) I saw a Colgate Total commercial featuring Brooke Shields and her pretend TV-commercial dentist, Joyce.

Joyce Fang

Dr. Joyce Fang, D.D.S.

It makes one wonder if all of Brooke's fake doctors have names that have predisposed them to their specialties.

Does she see Dr. Bush for her yearly pap smear?

I could go on, but I won't.

Also, for those of you not on my facebook, I broke my foot 4 weeks ago and have a big ass red cast on my left leg.  It comes off on Wednesday.  Go see pictures on Facebook!

So.

I won an ebay auction for an iPod that is the same as the one I had that was stolen (black, 80gig classic).

I won the auction on March 2, aka 18 days ago.
Anyone want to guess if I have received that iPod yet?
The answer, of course, is a big, fat no. iVan, II (yes, that's what I'm naming it) is MIA...

...as is his original owner.

The Whole Tragic Story )

Who thinks I've just lost $145?
Who knows how to get it back?

So the person I bought my eBay iPod from has yet to claim the money from eBay.
I send the money like 5 minutes after winning the auction and messaged this person saying so. Then a day and half later, they wrote to me saying they don't have my money yet. I checked and my bank has already sent the money to paypal and it's sitting there, marked "unclaimed." I told the seller that I guess they have to go claim it and they said, ok, they'd look into it.

That was Tuesday. I have not heard a word from them since then and the money is still sitting in my paypal waiting to be claimed. I have sent him/her several e-mails and heard nothing.

If it's not claimed by Monday night (aka, a week after I posted payment), I will cancel the payment and go find another iPod.

Please, everyone, be on the lookout for iVan Berk.
He is 4.1 inches tall and weighs 4.9 ounces.
He is half black, half silver. He has a tattoo on his back that says, "Julie Berk 281-636-3571" and one below that of an apple with a bite taken out.*

He was last seen in my car, wearing his red and tan leather case.
He went missing on February 26th. The only evidence was the shattered glass that covered my driver's seat and the concrete outside my car.

Please, everyone, he was only 10 months old. He must be scared and lonely, and his knowledge of music completely unappreciated by the sadistic bastard who took him from me.

If you see him, tell him iLove him.
And that iHad to replace him with an exact replica from eBay, to be named iVan, II.

Thank you.

Also missing is Patch. He is white, 8 inches long, and has a stereo jack on both ends. Last seen with iVan.

*This is the most recent picture of iVan...

I am sitting at the Astoria Public Library in Astoria, Oregon, just blocks away from where several Goonies scenes were filmed (also Kindergarten Cop and Short Circuit).
Steven's computer crapped out two days ago and my phone won't let me post properly.
Oregon is beautiful and we'll have lots of pictures to come later (including pics of the Tsunami warning signs, which feature a large cartoony wave and a stick man running from said wave in full pants-pissing mode).
Interesting fact, Oregon has a statewide, mandatory full-service gas station policy. Anywhere you go in Oregon, you are not permitted to pump your own gas; the attendant does it for you.
We're off to Forks, WA today to see the Twilight sights and then on to Seattle, where we'll stay the night, then we come home tomorrow. This will be the last leg of our road trip and it has been beautiful.

The wedding was gorgeous and I've just seen the first of the photos that Erin took and they are breathtaking! Look her up on flickr, Erin1225.

We are looking forward to coming home and opening the rest of our presents!!!

love to you all,
Mrs. O'Neal

Sooooooooo...
I'm getting married in 5 days.
I'm not going to go into another paranoid, question-asking post, but I felt it was necessary to inform everyone that the previous 22 days (more than 3 weeks) has become 5 days.

We're ready, of course. We ordered the food yesterday and we'll be ordering the groom's cake sometime this week, but for anything good that happens, there has to be something bad, too, right?
Right-My Grandma Sophie had a stroke on Saturday evening. They've diagnosed it for now as a Left Hemi-Cerebral Infarction. She's still in the hospital on tPA (tissue plasminogen activator) to dissolve the blockage. She was confused and disoriented for a little while, but I think she's doing better. She recognized her grandson, her son, her husband, etc. She's engaging in converstaion and she keeps saying, "I gotta get out of here," so she knows where she is and is ready to get better and go home.

This is all good news and we thank God for her progress, however, it does mean that she will not be able to make it to the wedding.
BUT, since our honeymoon involves staying one night in her town anyway, we will stop by and visit so she gets to see us.

We're keeping her in our prayers and we ask our friends to do the same, pretty please.

I'm getting married in 22 days.

22 DAYS!

In 22 days, I will no longer be just plain old Julie Berk.
In 22 days, I will be Mrs. Steven O'Neal. Julie O'Neal (which I have to admit, has a GREAT ring to it and I've been practicing signing my name 'Julie O'Neal' for about the last year and a half, which is about 10 months longer than I've actually been engaged.)

Just so it's clear, I'm not freaking out or getting cold feet, it's just really hit me i the last few days that I'm getting MARRIED. I'm gonna be someone's old lady.

Do I have to buy a minivan now and join the soccer mom's club?
And how do I get my name changed? Do I have to go and apply for a whole new social security card? Do I have to start putting my "Julie Berk" name on job applications in the place where it asks if you've ever worked under a different name? Is that my alias now?

Do I have to get a new nursing license? Driver's license? Is my job going to make me pay for a new name tag because I want my married name on it? Why should I have to pay 8 bucks for a new nametag? I just spent 6 grand on a freaking wedding, can't they spot me the 8 bucks?

Will my bank still let me deposit checks made out to Julie Berk if I change my name? Am I still going to have to tell people how to spell my last name? Just as they assumed it was b-u-r-k-e, are they going to bypass O'Neal and go straight for o-n-e-i-l-l? Are they going to start making Irish jokes at me?

Am I late for work? Oh, crap. Yeah, I am.

By the way, these aren't random rhetorical questions. If anyone has any real answers, please don't hesitate to share them.

Hi everyone,

We have some bad news.
Steven's mom passed away this Tuesday afternoon, Veteran's Day, of a heart attack.

There will be a viewing on Monday night from 6-8 at Height's Funeral Home.
The funeral will be Tuesday morning at 11am at All Saints Catholic Church in the Heights, followed by the burial at Magnolia Cemetery in Magnolia, Texas.

Hey peeps.

Crap has been super busy. Not just the obvious (planning a wedding), but work and family and stuff, too.
The wedding planning is going nicely. We got our invitations in and will be mailing them in about a month.
We got our cake and our little wedding favors and personalized napkins and everything, too.
Everyone keeps asking me if I'm freaking out yet, but I'm not.

Should I be?

In other news, I'm really excited about the Twilight movie. I read the entire series (4 books, all roughly the size of The Goblet of Fire or Order of the Phoenix) in 9 days; I couldn't put it down.
I'm going to start reading it again today. It's quite addictive.
I know [info]lllano doesn't agree with me, but to each their own!

That's about it. I'm really boring these days.

From: Steven
To: Julie
Now that it's rainin' more than eva, know that we'll still have eac-*
Julie: Hi, honey. What's up?
Steven: We have power. Come home now.

(*That's the ringtone for when Steven calls me: Umbrella by Rhianna)

Derek thinks we got power at around 1pm. Steven didn't get to the apartment till 5:20 (I was still at work).
For the first time in 5 days, I was able to sleep in my own bed.
For the first time in 12 days, I was able to sleep COMFORTABLY in my own bed!

My parents got power last Tuesday and Steven's parents got power sometime right before that. I stayed with my parents last Friday, got really depressed that I was away from Steven, and spent the rest of the weekend at his parents house, sleeping on an inflatable mattress (which was actually quite comfortable).
Tuesday and Wednesday night, I stayed with Erika since they've had power since at least last Monday.

I won't go into the WHOLE Ike experience, but I'll highlight some important factors:

-Learned how to make spaghetti on the barbeque

-Had a few candlelit dinners with Steven (only light source available)

-Going to save lots of money on electricity next month

-Had an excuse not to iron clothes

We have an inflatable mattress now, so if anyone is without power and needs assistance, let me know.

Hey people!
Who missed me??

Yeah, that's what I thought.

My daily life isn't really exciting enough to write about daily so I'm quite neglegent in my blogging. Also, since I share everything important with my fiance, I kind of feel like no one else needs to know...or cares.

Anyway, I felt like writing today about my new phone. Thanks to Verizon Wireless' New Every Two program, I got my new phone on Sunday.
It's an enV2 and I'm currently infatuated by its lucious maroon color, its enticing speaker quality and, of course, the full keyboard.

It also comes with a 2.0 megapixel camera which takes surprisingly clear pictures for being a camera phone.

I also just learned how to add and delete photos from my iPod (the 80gig-er I got for my birthday that still has 58gigs of free space). Yeah...I feel smart.

Love and kisses.

Did we let a dislexic child name this month's Tropical Storm?

In all my years of dealing with weird names (and believe me, I've come across quite a few working for a pediatrician's office and a daycare) I have never, once, seen a name like "Edouard."

I've heard of Eduard, Edward, and Eduardo.

Was it supposed to be Eduardo, but someone typed it wrong, then said, "Too late, we already printed pamphlets?"

Sorry, just had to get that off my chest.
You may resume your normal working activities.

I've been really bad about posting lately, and I know it. Though I highly doubt anyone cares.

Anyway, I'm going to go into a long and involved tale of what's been going on, I'll just summarize.

We looked at 2 places for the wedding: Places 1 and 2.
Place 1 was beautiful and seemed like it was going to be very inexpensive. It wasn't
Place 2 was a backup, but it turned out to be really nice and affordable.

We have booked place 2. January 31, 2009. If you don't get an invitation, I'm sorry, but we're really poor and can't afford a lot of people since place 2 charges you for extra people over 100. We're trying to keep it as close to 100 as possible.

Work is really good.

Don't know what else, really.

Love and kisses,
Julie

I ran out of gas today.

On the freeway.

Cause I'm an idiot.

I was lucky enough that Chris was at the Woodlands office, where I was headed and one of the front desk girls had a gas can. Chris picked me up, helped me finish up with my patients, then drove me to a gas station to fill up the can, then drove me back to my car, which was sitting stranded in a random driveway of a random house on the feeder. I thought my car was going to be either missing or vandalized by the time we got back, but it was ok.

I filled up my tank and took the gas can back to Kerthine, then came back to my office.

My car smells like gas and my stomach hurts from inhaling the fumes all the way back to Cypress from the Woodlands.

I want to go home.

Mom and I went to David's Bridal last night and I tried on some really beautiful gowns. We're not buying anything cause it's way too expensive, but we got some really good ideas and mom says she can make a dress like the one I tried on and loved.

It's gorgeous and looked great on me

Erika tried on a bridesmaid's dress and it looked FANTASTIC on her. I can't find a picture of it, but trust me, she looked great. It was a simple strapless number with some really pretty embroidering over the bust.

We have an appointment to go back on June 21st where I'll take all my ladies to pick out some dresses.

I found the cutest flower girl basket, guest book/pen and garter belt while there that matches the colors I want so I think I shall be buying it.

And on Tuesday, Steven and I headed over to Target to register, so there is now a lovely little list of things we want that anyone can go and buy for us! Hooray for us!!

Hello my peoples.
Yes, I know you've been missing me terribly. You'll get over it.

We are finally all moved in (as of last weekend, hehe) to our new apartment. We still have boxes galore to unpack, but I think things are coming together nicely.

Today, my bestest friend in the whole wide world graduates from Rice...and I'm not there. Seriosly, though, commencement ceremonies started at 8:30 and, though I love her, I'm not dragging my tired and sore ass out of bed for that. However, I will be driving to Kemah later for her party.

And I just heard my wind chime go "ding" from real wind activation for the first time since hanging it up and it makes me feel good. I heart windchimes and it makes me happy to know I didn't spend $25 on this thing for nothing.

Anyway, off to take care of the doggies and mail some long overdue thank you notes!

Just a quick update.

-Dad is doing ok, but he can't wait to get out of the hospital. He had a rough day yesterday, but I think they resolved a lot of what happened.

-I got my interview yesterday afternoon. The interview was basically a formality. It basically just served to give Donna a chance to tell me what she hopes the allergy department will become, and how much she likes me and thinks I'll be a great addition.
She informed me that when Chris (the other allergy nurse) told her that I was interested in the position (Chris called her while she was on vacation in Vegas), she got really excited and even told her boyfriend about it. I was glad to know I was being bragged on.

Jennifer came in to talk to me and said we'll do a 30 day trial to give me the opportunity to back out if I want to.

Also, I get to wear pretty clothes to work now.

YAY!
